left-handed fountain pens work for me!

Anyone using Google's NotebookLM to save your notes and then discuss them with the AI podcasters?

Rocketbooks are still around but I suspect their days are numbered

@lthechat.bsky.social A1 My go-to solution has to be a concept map - use Cmap freeware. It changed my life!

#LTHEchat The nights are drawing in .... what better place to be!

But Google is now stuffing all its products with AI! Are we fighting a losing battle on this?

Thanks for the mention, Louise. We are picking up a growing number of critical analyses of GenAI such as Karen Hao 'Empire of AI' and there have only been 3 programmes today about GenAI on Radio 4

Another good source is 'Feeding the machine' by James Muldoon et al

#LTHEchat A5 How about - go and see if you can find out what it cost to produce that image.

It would be good to have up-dated and comprehensive statistics on this and related issues. The AI companies keep telling us that they are getting more efficient, while multiplying their audience every day

Maybe best as a group task?

#LTHEchat A4 Couple of suggestions. Ask the AI to produce an image of a specific historical event and then add up the errors. The other obvious one is 'spot the stereotypes'.

This sort of statistic makes me question whether it is worth getting GenAI to generate images at all! Or are there situations where GenAI images are really valuable?

#LTHEchat A2 Have you tried images of clock faces without specifying the time? Have you tried an image of a person writing with a fountain pen? Which hand did they use?

A2 #LTHEchat When folk become 'stuck' on a single or limited approach or worldview, then you have to worry if too much ego is attached to that opinion

#LTHEchat A5 Can we equip everyone with Generative-AI-hype-filters?

And let us not forget the inherent need for physical effort required to produce multiples copies from manual Banda - I have never been so fit. And the intoxicating fumes were an added bonus

#LTHEchat A2 Perhaps the biggest gain has been the access to quality resources so that we can concentrate on the dialogue and understanding

#LTHEchat A3 Think that the arrival of Powerpont meant the death of the carefully crafted summary handout - too easy just to make the slides available (and probably overload a fair few students in the process).

#LTHEchat A1 Non-negotiable for me would be the need to ensure that students understand the assessment rationale and how it relates to what we want them to learn

Always looks like that on the Scottish Riviera. Just saying.

#LTHEchat A5 Suspect that you can only eliminate barriers over time by adopting integrated and inclusive approaches re study skills and demonstrating that they 'work'. And you have to keep doing it.

#LTHEchat A5 Isn't there still a strong 'anti-study-skills' sentiment in some areas which mandates that 'proper teaching' is all about the discipline content?

#LTHEchat A4 Used to introduce several games/exercises to students to encourage collaboration. some now lost in the mists to time - anyone remember the C Wright Mills exercise?
