The Spotify link to my new single. Please share if you enjoy it. I'm hoping to earn enough royalties this month for a packet of guitar strings.

Sally Mackey — dear friend and colleague for 30+ years. A driving force in Drama Ed and Applied Theatre and one of the architects of Central as a modern HE drama school that trains practitioners, educators and thinkers under one roof. I’ll miss the long calls, the wine, the cookery tips. RIP.

@jonathancoe.bsky.social Truss; death of her maj. Shady thinktanks, grudge / guilt harbouring university chums and poisonous academics in a ‘cosy’ murder mystery. Plus a cameo from the briefly successful author of ‘Quite the Mash-Up’. Fab. Suggestion: Coe bingo cards would only enhance the delight

I was in a pretty remote part of Australia, during the UK summer, and the call was made that there would be time enough for arrangements to be made when I returned. There was nothing I could do from there and it was intended kindly. In my 25 leadership years (up until Covid ) I had maybe 3 deaths.

Maybe it’s an indicator of how things have changed, but many years ago when I was a HOD, a programme leader did unexpectedly die while I was on holiday. They didn’t interrupt me but my boss found out my flight number and called me the minute I touched down at Gatwick. Classy I thought.

Dozens of universities, including the UT system and MIT, have announced programs to provide free tuition for undergraduate students from families who fall below a certain income threshold. Here are some of the schools and how these programs work.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have a great version on standby for when, you know, it rains.

Great idea for a comedy. Pitch it to Netflix immediately.

Gear nerd post. Indulge me. Richard Hawley tonight with his 1959 Watkins Scout ( right) and later WEM Dominator (left). My Mersey Super 15 is the Scout in a different casing commissioned by Hessys music shop in Liverpool during Beatlemania in 1963. It didn’t take off and they reputedly only made 18.

Whitehall ‘comfortable in the tepid bath of managed decline.’ Nice line. Same might be said of the administrations of other sectors in the past ten years.

Well… Are you Martin Herbert?

Haunting and powerful image. With the pose she strikes and the way she disappears into the wall of shields, almost like a piece of modern dance. hope she was treated well and released.

Tired is the wrong word. Mildly irritated that the likes of Icke and Van Hove are getting away with using them in exactly the same ways that companies like Red Shift, Shadow syndicate, and DV8 were using more cumbersome video kit in the late 80s in Edinburgh and on the small scale
Circuit.

Bono is a lot of things, but sartorially cool is not one of them. Anyway your review will ensure I now watch to doc to figure it all out, so your work, at least in my house, is done.

Just finished The Listeners on iPlayer. Remarkable. Clever nods to 70s art house movies. Rebecca Hall is outstanding. For those interested auditory hallucination, the use of sound in meditation and relaxation practices, and the often cultish association between aurality and expanded consciousness.
