The greater scandal is what universities pay their part-time professors: $9,000 per course, no medical/dental benefits, no pension, and no job security. Even if you are lucky to pick up 4-5 courses, you make between $36,000-$45,000 annually. That should be on the front page of every newspaper.
Canadian University salary data is out: Queen's has now passed Toronto in having the highest average professorial salary - $198,875.

I've been watching two great Netflix series: The Beast In Me and Mr. Mercedes. Great plots and great acting. The depths of evil inside the antagonists are disturbing.

I agree with Harvard Law's Randall Kennedy. It is more important than ever to protect free speech/academic freedom, whether the threat comes from right-wing populists banning critical race theory or left-wing ideologues punishing offensive speech on campus: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HGC...

Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

One academic in this piece claims, "I don’t know when the university became uncomfortable with difficult conversations. I mean, it’s what we do.” The university is NOT uncomfortable with contentious issues. Any inability by profs to do so is strictly anecdotal. universityaffairs.ca/features/tim...

Yes, but true moral courage is criticizing Israel at the moment it's needed, not when it's comfortable to do so. Should haves and could haves don't cut it.

Alt-right bigots are "populists" to an academic, a hate merchant to everyone else.
You see that? How “far right” views are routinely re-packaged as “populist”?
A prominent far-right German activist has applied for political asylum in the U.S., as the Trump administration has signaled plans to prioritize protections for White refugees and Europeans who claim they are being targeted for their populist views.

Don't shed a tear for this sociopath. He was unapologetic about pushing George W. Bush into the Iraq War debacle in 2003. It was just one lie after another, and Dick Cheney was the war's chief propagandist. In his documentary, he said he had "no regrets" about the war. A sociopath indeed.

I never scaled a class grade in my life. With experience, you learn what written questions to ask, how to word them, and what details are required. For essays, a professor teaches a TA the difference between grade levels and shows essay examples from previous years. Just be proactive.

Does anyone know if there's a moral difference between flat-out murder and murder?
Trump admin claims that its premeditated killings at sea aren't flat out murder because US is supposedly in an armed conflict (false).

But its reported daisy-chain targeting is not focused on lawful targets, ie combatants or those DPHing.

If war, then war crimes.
