I just want to meet people from cool places and learn about their places from them, and maybe chat online, and then hang out in real life someday. Now you ask someone dinner recs in their city and they send you a YouTube video they made, or say they “don’t add or message on this (or that) platform.

I think a lot of my problem with the modern internet is when I was growing up people just met people online. Became friends. Talked. Shared interests and helped each other out.

Now I feel like every profile or person I see is online to push you to a substack, a YouTube channel, or an onlyfans.
