I stopped calling Octavia butlers work prophetic once I realized she herself literally said that her work was influenced by deeply studying history which gave have her insight into the future. I realized I was watering down how truly brilliant she was and what she was trying to get across

Ngl, i kinda hate the word expat because even though i was born in the US i don't look white and if i ever immigrated anywhere else permanently and forfeited my citizenship i wouldnt be seen as an american expat, i'd be seen as an immigrant from america.

Its like, a very privileged term in my mind

the very foundation of the country is & always has been white nationalism

We're not going to be able to deal with the country we have currently until people come to terms with that

If you want to rally people under a banner that doesnt represent racial oppression, that banner cannot be the US flag

I guess my question is, is it more important to you to attempt to ammeliorate an image that has always represented white nationalism?

Or to actually hear out non-white people when they say, hey i dont feel represented by patriotism, and i don't want to be associated with patriotism?

first, its that we see white nationalists using patriotism as a rallying cry. J6 was a lot of self identified patriots. Similar to Timothy McVeigh, Eric Robert Rudolph.

second, its all the atrocities that have been committed against non-white people in the name of white patriotism/nationalism.
