Intersectionality is vital in the fight for equality. A person's overlapping social identities—such as being both Black and LGBTQI+—can create unique experiences of discrimination.

Our aim: a truly inclusive & equitable Watford for everyone.
A Place Without Prejudice. 🖤❤️🏳️‍🌈💛🏳️‍⚧️💚🖤

Wanted: the person who requested this cute free badge dedign.

One lovely Herts Pride stall visitor yesterday asked for this cute design, but never came back to collect it.

Please share so we can find them and reunite them!.

Hertfordshire's biggest & best LGBTQIA+ celebration - Herts Pride, Sat 30th August.

While partying - do remember there are people in countries across the globe who are still unable to live and love openly.

The fight is not over for us, until it's over for all of us.

🌈 Herts Pride 2025 is joyful, yes — but it’s also political.

In an age of rising extremism and radical authoritarian populism, our theme is #Connections. Because we are far more connected — in blood and spirit — than hate would have us believe.

We keep winning

And then we keep losing again

We will continue to fight for the rights, representation and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ people, at home and across the globe.

Always hoping for the day when we no longer have to.
We're delighted to announce that in our continuing Pride Month series "Pride on Vibe" our co founder Lee Keogh will be talking to Alexinder Riyat on Intersectionality on Monday evening from 7-9pm.

Pick a Side, Hate or Pride.
Our social feeds will soon be full of corporate rainbow logos performatively signalling support for the LGBTQ+ community.
You can’t say you support our rights and fund platforms that attack them.

Meet Dora Richter.

Trans people were one of communities persecuted by the Nazis, and many of the famous images of book burning were taken at the Institute for Sexual Research where Dora was a patient.

She was the first person known to undergo complete male to female gender affirming surgery.
In the words of our Proud Watford patron and veteran Bryan Timberlake – now 92:

“...freedom and peace, won on the backs of the brave men and women we remember today is very precious. Hard won. Never given.
In the years to come, please remember, it's our job to defend what's right.
Human & Proud.“
Today we pay tribute to Dr James Barry, an outstanding doctor who undertook the first c-section where both mother & baby survived.

Born female in Ireland, Barry lived both public & private life as a man.

It was only after death that his birth gender was discovered.

@transhistoryweek
Like so much LGBTQIA+ history, trans history has been hidden, but it is there.

We can find lots of examples of people who were trans or gender non conforming, throughout history - for example the Gallus of Catterick.

You are not alone.

We have resources and information that can help you to understand the news, and how it will impact you.

Media obsession with trans issues would have many people think that gender fluidity, questioning and transition is a new thing.

Today we celebrate those who fight for equal rights & representation, and will continue to do so for Watford and our neighbours.
