Dave my favorite character, with his cool, witty one-liners and quips. But in the pilot, he was made into a total second asshole, number one swearer, and zero charm I didn't expect Vivz to know about Class Aspects to further understand the characters, BUT AT LEAST READ THE DIALOGUES IN THE COMIC?

While John isn't prone to swearing, it suits Karkat, with his anger issues. Egbert always sounded simple, slightly insecure, or even the opposite, but definitely not "fucking fuck fuck".

They turned John, a witty, simple guy who loved magic tricks and friends, into a foul-mouthed asshole who openly mocked Rose. I hoped that since these aren't Vivz' characters, they don't live in hell, and you LITERALLY have a script with lines, they wouldn't be cursed by her "comedy" but I was wrong

I consider it my sacred duty, as someone who dedicated 10 YEARS of my life to Homestuck, to comment on the recently released pilot.
It's a complete dogshit The animation is average, and for an indie studio, the ending was good, BUT WHAT THEY DID TO THE CHARACTERS IS UNFORGIBLE.

3) You need to read the book, conduct an analysis, often books raise interesting topics about man, his nature, the nature of existence and other questions of philosophy, which, again, makes you think about the character, reason about these topics, run it through yourself.

2) Books leave the appearance of the protagonist without description, which means that you have to think "what would this character look like?". When you make a character based on a game, then such an option is hardly there ("humanizations" do not count)

You might rightly ask, "Oh River, but isn't making a sinner from a book also character theft?" No, and I can defend my point of view.
1) Authors of many (not all, but many) books use the character as such simply as a placeholder for the narrative, which leaves room for interpretation.
