attack on PaleoOddity’s character Muffin, a Daeodon shoshonensis with a grey body, white facial marking, underbelly, neck stripes, mane, and tail tuft. the tip of her snout, around her eyes, tips of her cheek flanges, and bottom of her legs are darker grey. her eyes are golden. D. shoshonensis was the largest entelodontid, related to modern hippos. it had a somewhat buffalo-like body, and a huge, somewhat hippo-like head with sharp teeth. it had a bony flange protruding from each cheek and two smaller ones on each side of the lower jaw, hypothesized to have been for territorial display and/or protection from bites from other entelodonts. it is presumed to have been omnivorous but a fairly regular scavenger and possibly also at times an active predator. it tends to be reconstructed with a mane on the neck and a tuft on the tail, of which Muffin’s are curly and fluffy. She stands against a black background with a green glow around her head, and three neon green lightning bults next to her mouth as she snarls, and lifts her front hoof. drawn in a style resembling old cartoons. attack on puijila’s character Pot Puijila, a Puijila darwini, an otter-like ancestor of modern pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, fur seals, and walruses). they have grey fur with a lighter face and underbelly, and slightly darker spots on the back and stripes on the face and legs. the tail tip is black and the neck has a slightly darker mane. they have small external ears, unlike living seals and walruses, though similar to sea lions and fur seals. most striking are the legs rather than flippers, and much longer tail, giving it an otter-like appearance; P. darwini was an evolutionary precursor to the nearly fully aquatic modern pinnipeds and had not yet developed flippers. their head, however, more closely resembles a sea lion’s. they are swimming in an energetic, happy pose in blue water with some blue bubbles surrounding them. drawn in a style resembling old cartoons. a rhinoceros-sized, elephant-like animal. it is an early proboscidean, related to true elephants; the barytheriids are the first proboscideans to acquire large size. compared to modern elephants, it had shorter legs and a much shorter, more tapir-like trunk. it had upper and lower tusks, but they were shorter and did not protrude from the mouth. it is depicted here with much smaller ears than modern elephants. its skin is grey with faint pinkish mottling on its underside. it is indicated to have been a semi-aquatic herbivore feeding on aquatic plants.
