A person with disability is a person who adapts, improvises, and overcomes the barriers life places in their way.

For that—not because of our disability—we deserve respect.

This is what defines Disability Pride, not the pity you offer to make yourself feel important.

Accessibility is about freedom. It removes the shackles that prevent some people from using technology, entering buildings, getting information, or simply living life. When you free those who were constrained by barriers, you often end up freeing others in the process.

Ableism is applauding disabled people for surviving a rigged system instead of questioning why the system was built to break them in the first place.

Assuming that all disabled people will be “fixed” by technology (be it prosthetics, cochlear implants, gene editing) and therefore not investing in accessibility now is a big mistake. Or conversely, designing tech with only the majority in mind.

"Mental health is health, period. You wouldn't tell someone to 'walk it off' the day after surgery; so don't tell someone to 'get over it' when they're battling anxiety or depression. They need time, support, and sometimes professional help to heal."

Allowing a student with a hidden disability (ADHD, Anxiety, Dyslexia) to struggle academically or socially when all that is needed for success are appropriate accommodations and explicit instruction, is no different than failing to provide a ramp for a person in a wheelchair.

Accessibility is not a loud, one-time event; it's a quiet revolution. It's also isn't about quick fixes or public shaming.

it's about the power of ongoing action like watering a plant – splash it once, and you'll make a mess; nurture it daily, and you'll watch it thrive.
