🚨New on Phonautograph🚨

The follow-up to the first Four Way Hips album. This one's not recorded to a four-track, though.

Electronic with some Brazilian twists and big beats. I think it's a fun record.

If you like Cluster's Zuckerzeit this may be up your alley:

I got lucky with Cool Struttin', it was in the used CD bin!

Ah, that's too bad. I'm in Montreal. The record stores are pretty good and the thrifting can be excellent.

The work continues on Jackie McLean's Capuchin Swing. Finally working on tonguing and arpeggio fingerings. Getting my guitar fingers to be sax fingers.

Some sources say the 10th, others 11th, so let’s just celebrate the magnificent Fred Hopkins, who was born around this time of October in 1947, all weekend. Play some Air! Or any of the many other recordings he made such significant and memorable contributions to. (📸Tom Copi).

Oh, I haven't explored further. I'll have to check it out.

Compared to the wisdom teeth I need to have removed it'll be a piece of cake, lol.

A pretty common lunch at my place is a noodle soup with fried tofu puffs. The broth is a dashi/doenjjang base. This variation has sauerkraut which gives it a great tanginess but you can throw anything in here and it'll be great.

Tippin' The Scales is straight up hard bop while Let Freedom Ring is kind of modal/extended form stuff. What's nuts is that Tippin' was recorded five months AFTER Freedom in 1962. Tippin'ssounds like it could have come out three or four years earlier.

Here are Jackie McLean's liner notes for Let Freedom Ring:

I had one goal today and it was to come home with more Jackie McLean than I had when I left. Thanks @caseyabrams.bsky.social for reminding me that Jackie's on Cool Struttin'.

Either stuff that I thrifted but can't keep or stuff that I'm getting rid of to make room for stuff I thrifted. Mostly jazz and music from various parts of the world.

Alright, got some stacks to take in to the record store. Let's see what this gets me.
A bag of LPs and a bag of CDs to trade in at the record store
