Procurement SOPs and policies are hard to monitor and enforce...

If you want people to follow your processes, policies, strategies,

They need to do it without knowing they're doing it...

This is possible with today's tech...

If you know how to use it and where to find it. Promise.

Digital transformation paradox:

Going 150km/h vs 120km/h saves you 15min on a 2hr journey, but 10x the crash risk.

The same applies to #ProcureTech rollouts.

Move at "controlled speed" or watch your best talent leave while processes get worse, not better.

The "Other" category in purchasing commodity codes = a black hole for spend data.

Start by tracking spend logged under "Other" codes, spotting trends, & reclassifying out of "Other". When ready, remove "Other" entirely for clearer spend visibility.

Stop chasing the "Amazon-like" buying experience for your corporate purchasing department...

Amazon is designed to keep you shopping as long as possible and spending more money.

Your corporate purchasing marketplace should be designed to get people out of there ASAP and minimize spend.

Why does #procurement swear by "3 bids and a buy"?

2 bids is not enough information to truly contrast and compare.

3 bids gives you enough information for critical thought.

4+ bids gives you even more information but has diminishing effort to benefit returns for every bid.

Planning on buying a Procurement system or application in 2024?

Make sure it has a complete, robust and flexible set of APIs for integration.

You will need to make multiple applications "talk to each other" to reach your business objectives. APIs are critical for this.

Digital Procurement is NOT just about technology:

It's about figuring out who does what, when and how when you put new technology into the mix.

Technology is only the "How" and it won't work without the 'Who does what' (People) and the 'When' (Process).

What's you favorite tool to document this?
