Follow up to my Black Dalea post! I live in the northern area of Las Cruces, and mine is full of small bees (I assume european honeybees). Today, I went to a home in the Valley, and hers was almost all bumblebees. #nativeplants #bees

Her name was Melissa Hortman. Her husband was Mark Hortman. Their dog was named Gilbert.
Their assassination left two children without their parents and her state without a beloved former Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The conference will begin with a meet-and-greet at Hacienda de Mesilla in the historic town of Old Mesilla on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm. Friday is our activity day with field trips, a garden tour, and workshops, followed by a reception from 5-7 pm at the University Art Museum on the NMSU campus. Saturday will feature a full day of presentations, a poetry reading, student posters, book sales, vendor displays and a silent auction on the NMSU campus. We’ll then get together for an optional banquet under the stars at D.H. Lescombes Winery & Bistro. We rescued globe mallow plants from a construction site and didn't have high hopes because a lot of native plants don't like to be moved. They turned dead-looking, and then I was surprised to see new growth! These are some of the first to bloom in spring, so they're a favorite. #nativeplants
