IN THE MOMA SCREAMING EXHIBITION by Victoria C. Roskams

In the MoMA Screaming Exhibition, no one can hear you scream. Blood-curdling and spine-tingling and hackle-raising and even chuckle-inducing: the full gamut. Do you know how many kinds of scream there are?

Listen to the crackling of static as you traverse the poem "CTRL+SHIFT+U" by Robert Beveridge.

There is static, of course. There is always static.
You can measure signal-to-noise ratios on fiber optics
all you want; most of us barely manage copper,
and that’s on a good day. Never mind the opportunists
who are trying to sneak in, steal that wire, sell it
so they can afford to trick out their pickups,
roll coal down the alleys of your brain.

"IS THAT A FLY? MOSQUITO? WHERE DID IT GO? WHERE IS THE FLY SWATTER?" by Brytton Bjorngaard brings to mind the incessant buzzing of summer.

THE YELLING CONTINUES Anthology: pwritersu.com/TYC

Artwork “IS THAT A FLY? MOSQUITO? WHERE DID IT GO? WHERE IS THE FLY SWATTER?” by Brytton Bjorngaard.

Colorful multimedia letterpress art with letters and numbers on a semi-opaque ink background. To the left is a column of bright calligraphic text reading “Whoooooooooosh / Whoooooooooossssh / Whoooooooooosh”.

"Everyday objects earworm into my obsessive mind: the bass of my neighbor's television, the turning of the clock handles at the back of the classroom, the sound of the train on the tracks over 2 miles away, the low rumble of cars at the stoplight..." - Brytton Bjorngaard

The homogenisation and consolidation of buisinesses and brands has led to the erosion of the midlist, the indie movie or band or comic. There's a real sense of "I'll only try media that's already popular / famous," and I'm begging you to look for the weird shit, the experimental, the niche.

Full of biting meaning (and metaphorical noise), an excerpt from "RAKSHASA" by K. Sundaram.

RAKSHASA by K. Sundaram

A vitreous fluid living between the heartbeats of a dying virus, the kind of thing that breaches a bruised topaz cave, a glossed lip. Roadkill and waning headlight become twin copper vessels, each responsible for the burying of the other. Meaning, for once, this creature will play destroyer.

Since many of us are cancelling streaming services, now might also be a good time to support writers and artists. Times are extremely tough for creatives, so why not buy a book, commission an art piece, sign up for a Patreon, tip your favorite creators. Everything helps.

yesterday this said lunch. now it’s unwound
from round the soup tin, blown away and
up and rolled into the MoMA,
(or—not rolled: spun, recordlike, thinner
than a vinyl groove). there is a something
there, but what it is isn’t What It Is,
you dig? the record is not the music.
