It tends to depend. The main benefit from this is making a quick template for running on a target handheld. Otherwise, it's copying a prior one, renaming, and replacing the PCK files. Something like CnC2 I use shell scripts for its weird exporting. Eventually I'll do custom editor exports.

I'm going to be doing a video guide on porting Godot games in general soon. Progress was made on certain versions of Mono so stabilizing that.

It's possible to partially automate. Using a template zip to auto-setup an export package is feasible.

@binarycounter.net gets a slice of the pie as well. He does a lot of the compatibility layers Portmaster uses. I'd suggested ZA since it would stress test AGS on hardware and turns out it was much easier than it used to be to port. He was all "oh I have like 7 ports working with no effort now."

I hate @goldquiver.bsky.social and @radiantrodent.bsky.social for using Spine in Godot, but I compiled a custom ARM64 Linux build for it which works on the Anbernic RG34XX-SP.

If I can confirm it runs on ArkOS's ancient Linux kernel, may push to Portmaster.

Finally implemented CTB turn delay to CnC2. FFX is now outclassed by this framework both because dragons, but also because this actually shows a popup when a creature's delayed so some big enemy attack doesn't just delay everyone four times and kill me without giving me a turn yes I'm mad.

These aren't so much retro as retro-like. These handhelds are primarily low budget ARM Linux devices jammed into various videogamey frames and sold cheap. This one's the Anbernic RG34XX-SP.

@dreamcube.bsky.social was another victim of worming through the code to prototype Anbernic Portmaster tests of Chirax's Fortress. The game runs fine, but there's some nuance with the current setup (I decomp PCKs for these tests, Blender auto-gltfing don't work well here.) But it's possible.

That's the RG34XX-SP. Tested with RG35XX-SP since less RAM and I've got samba live on it, but this is more photogenic.

For #ScreenshotSaturday. Make your debug tools good. Developed the combat debug menu. Most importantly targeting was refactored to work and now resurrection works. In-game fast-forward is good too.

In theory it could, as it uses common Godot runtimes and no GDExtension code. The main issue is I don't have a test unit, since Apple hardware's abysmally overpriced. x86_64 and ARM64 Linux is the primary platform (see youtu.be/WnjYLPEsSnk) with Windows having shrug-and-hope support.

Final Fantasy X fans rejoice as the CTB gauge works in Crop and Claw 2. Combat clip as I've been refactoring menus.

#GodotSteam isn't bad, but GDExtension PCK issues made it hard for CnC1 to be exported with conditional Steam support. ARM Linux PCKs required commenting Steam out every update.
So I wrote an achievement abstraction that uses Steam only if on a Steam runtime for CnC2

More pocket #dinosaur gaming update. Zniw Adventure still baking but Zid Journey also runs on Portmaster. Testing with the Anbernic RG34XX-SP as well since it has more memory. RAM is tight on the 35 with EmulationStation hogging memory on some CFWs. 1GB works well, it just runs OOM.

Working with #Portmaster to see if the full game can run on Anbernic's 1GB hardware. 60 FPS on the RG35XX-SP so far.

AGS games may be generally portable soon, too.
