This pysanka was written in 2022, before my new dyes had arrived from Canada, so the purple colour was achieved with fabric dye.
While spirals are a traditional motif used in pysanky, these spirals appear to be koru that hint at my love and admiration for Māori motifs.

The word 'pysanka' comes from the Ukrainian verb 'pysaty': to write. Lines are written onto eggshell in molten wax, and the egg is then dipped in dye in a wax resist technique similar to batik.
After a very long break from writing pysanky, I finally wrote this pysanka in 2017.
