People do not withhold objections because they have been convinced but because the social cost of asking them has risen above the cognitive cost of staying quiet.

Dissent isn’t dead on campus – it is just too risky for students
Undergraduates are choosing silence over dissent given the high price paid by scholars advancing controversial ideas, says Yashraj Garg

No, you should never accept to even contemplate collaborating with the far right

It might protect you for a while if you're privileged enough but it will only legitimise them and put many communities at risk as well as democracy

I can't believe we are at the stage when this has to be said...

No idea why an Afghan refugee shot National Guard soldiers within walking distance of the White House, but this new USCIS directive was revealed on Monday. Worth noting.
The folks at @afghanevac.bsky.social have in hand a new USCIS directive which largely targets Afghan refugees who fled the Taliban in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal in 2021.

In case you needed a reminder that the most loathsome people in the world work for DHS.

Unfortunately, Trump's 'peace plan' in Gaza has been given UNSC mandate.

CHINA AND RUSSIA has abstained from voting.

This UNSC resolution 2803 will have serious implications in future for the International community.

What is Security Council Resolution 2803, and what does it mean for the Trump Gaza plan?
Why did the US seek a UN Security Council resolution, how was it achieved, and what authority does it grant the US and its partners?

Just by taking down individuals or a group without countering their ideology never worked.

We have seen in the case of Talibans, Jihadists in Pakistan and administered areas, religious extremism and many more.

We cannot defeat fascism and white supremacists without countering their narrative.
It might sound counterintuitive but trying to take Farage, Trump, Le Pen down based on individual flaws without centring the damage their politics do is counterproductive

It opens the way for less extreme actors espousing the same politics while these have become normalised by mainstream actors

Opinion: This U.S. initiative signals, in Putin’s view, that Washington is capitulating. And capitulating not because it has suffered losses — but because it is tired, frightened and eager to avoid involvement, writes former Russian diplomat Boris Bondarev.

Opinion | The Ukraine war peace plan proposed by the Trump administration has, unsurprisingly, triggered a storm of reactions across the press, social media and among experts.

When the government accuses asylum seekers of being given "golden tickets" and "tearing the country apart" and the media cheers them on, you know the mainstream elite has accepted fascism as a valid alternative to the radical change needed to address the many crises this country is facing
Shabana Mahmood has vowed to end Britain’s “golden ticket” for asylum seekers by forcing people arriving illegally to wait 20 years before they can apply for permanent settlement
