I develop videogames about people with polyhedra for heads.

Weekend didn't go as planned for external reasons, but managed to finish the script and will record tonight. Might drop the video on wednesday.

Trying my hand at writing a video script. I figured I could start my #gamedev journey by describing the path that I feel I will have to walk through to finish it.

Like last week, I expect dropping the video by tomorrow and start sharing my progress every sunday.

To kickstart things again, I completed this year's #inktober and documented the process on a brand new #youtube channel:

From now on, I'll plan out the next steps for development and share as much as I can to slowly build a platform for it.

Subscribe and let's do it!
What have I learned from drawing everyday for a month?

If someone asks me why I want to make games I'll just send them this post. Brainticklers for the win 🧠

It's hard to describe, really. If I have to be completely honest, I'm just hardwired to think of a videogame as a piece of art rather than a product in the market, although these two coexist. If you're a community manager, you didn't help develop the game artistically, but as a product you sure did.

I don't think it includes everyone, no. Most of the time, you wouldn't be able to fit a CEO or a community manager in my previous description, but you could fit a writer or a musician, despite none of them being graphic designers or programmers.

A person that actively iterates on any practical AND creative scope of the development process of a video game.

Now I want to play it!

True! I'd argue exploring these creative branches your story presents to you is the best part of the entire process and what makes such process actually enjoyable.

Me: "I stopped development to refine the lore a bit, but the game won't be lore-centered"

Also me 3 days later: "I created a language from scratch with alphabet, grammar and counting system"

If I count from my first prototypes in Blender and Godot, 3-4 months. If I count from when I first had the general idea and everything I've written/drawn since then, 2-3 years.

Hi, it's been a while. Just wanted to say I paused the game and social media so I could work on the lore to get a grasp on more concrete characters and environments. Even though the game won't be lore-centered at first, I feel it's important to have some background. It's turning out great!

Took the weekend to decompress and finished two games that were in my backlog: Steamworld Dig 1 & 2. They have their flaws, but turned out to be amazing experiences both for enjoyment and for game development insights. Highly recommend, and you can play them from Game Pass.

Haven't heard of Excalibur.js before this post, but Typescript and gamedev in the same place feels too inviting to let it pass. I will definitely try it!

Just checking in once again to say I didn't give up on the project.

Work and personal life had to be put ahead of social media due to various reasons. Despite all that, I work on the concepts at least an hour a day.

Next week I'll probably be able to start planning the content side of the project.

Haven't been active here lately, but not because I'm setting the project aside. In fact, it's the opposite: I've been deep on the lore behind it all.

Crafting stories, worlds and characters is what really drives me. Videogames just happen to be the best medium to express them.

The challenge is to choose 20 games that greatly influenced you. One game per day, for 20 days. No explanations, no reviews, no particular order.

Good point too. It's always healthy to reflect on game interactions and player ergonomics as gamedevs. Good luck on your journey 👊🏻

IMO, the best control scheme is the one you grew up on. I have 700 hours into Rocket League using arrows + zx, just because I've been emulating platformers since 2008 and got used to it. Meanwhile, a guy in Europe is playing pro CS using a flight simulator control scheme, because he grew up on it.
