The scale of this is absolutely shocking, what an appalling non-response from minister and department.
Any carbon accounting approach that includes emissions (potentially) avoided by exported lithium should also include the scope 3 emissions from exported coal and gas.

An extraordinary situation has arisen in NSW, and inland rivers and internationally significant wetlands will miss out on vital watering this season.

Essentially the rivers are being persecuted as if they are stealing their own water.

Absolutely horrifying. Scale of response is still inadequate.
The mainstream media framing is completely in tune with this approach. It’s both depressing and alarming.
If the ALP is serious about doing only what they have been given a ‘mandate’ to do by the electorate, then implementing the recommendations of the EPBC Act review to better protect the environment while giving faster decisions (not ‘approvals’) to developers would be top of the list.
