The flags of #Israel & #Palestine hang on the shelves in my study, a constant reminder to me - & to those who see them when I’m on zoom - of a future of #Justice & #HumanRights beyond the devastating reality of the present: #2EqualStates, living side-by-side in #Peace & #Security. #Shalom #Salaam.

When leaders weaken Europe’s human rights court, they don’t protect us—they endanger everyone.

Rights aren’t political bargaining chips.

They’re the bedrock of democracy, justice & safety. Uphold the Convention. Respect the court. Our freedoms depend on it. #HumanRights #ECHR

When Politicians Undermine Europe’s Rights Court, We All Lose
The European Court of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights are under attack again.

And our government? High on its messianic plans of occupation and settlement of Gaza. We must refuse this catastrophe and overthrow the extremists in power. (2/2)

Every single day, our extremist government chooses more death and destruction. After almost two years of bombing and displacement, Palestinians, including children, the elderly and disabled, are facing new horrors every day. The hostages are still suffering in captivity. (1/2)

And it’s not only the right. Yair Golan, part of the opposition, just said the establishment of a Palestinian state would be “destructive” for Israel. With an opposition like this, who needs Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben-Gvir?
joelhs.bsky.social
The Israeli right would have you believe that recognizing a Palestinian state along 1967 lines is somehow “rewarding Hamas,” and also that the reason there can’t be a Palestinian state is that Hamas wants all the land of Israel-Palestine and won’t accept the 1967 lines.

Our action not only reaffirmed our solidarity, it helped strengthen our fight. We know that when all of us fight for a different future together, we have the power to actually change our reality. (2/2)

Yesterday we stood in another silent vigil for Palestinian children killed in this war of annihilation – and more and more people came to stand alongside us to protest this terrifying reality. (1/2)

May this Rosh Hashanah, a time that represents the creation of the universe, bring renewed energy to our fight for a different reality for everyone, Jews and Palestinians, on this land.

No rescue crews, no heavy machinery to clear the ruins, no emergency force. This is what it look like when an entire population is cut off from the most basic tools of survival, including electricity, functional hospitals, and the means to rescue loved ones.

This horror must end now.

Palestinians deserve more than survival under siege. They have the right to feel safe in their own homes, to fall in love, to study, to raise children, and to dream of a future. None of this is possible under military rule and occupation. (4/4)

In Jenin, families were forced out from their homes as houses were demolished and infrastructure destroyed. The past day in Jenin was not unusual — it was just a glimpse into an ongoing reality in the West Bank. (3/4)

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank already live behind walls and checkpoints, under military rule that restricts their every step.

And now, even the most basic right, the right to leave their own land, to travel, to study, to work, to receive care, to simply live like anyone else is denied.

#RoshHashanah marks the beginning of the Jewish #NewYear, a time for reflection, renewal & recommitment.

We renew our promise to uphold #HumanRights, & stand in solidarity with marginalised communities in the UK.

May this new year be sweeter, more just & more compassionate.
