Honestly, Elissa Slotkin ruined the phrase "no kings" for me when she suggested that the majority of Americans weren't smart enough to understand the concept of an oligarchy, let alone articulate a path towards repelling it.

he was a mediocre peacetime president. Without the war, I'm not sure he'd have won reelection if he ran, but it would've been a peaceful transfer of power either way, which is one reason why putting him remotely in the same camp as Putin is so terribly asinine.
no current elected Democrats or Independents in the US espouse this position: not since Tulsi left Congress.

1/2 Something that I feared would happen is happening. I am seeing social media posts that nothing is happening that Jamaica hasn't experienced before. The storm HASN'T HIT yet. I was worried this perception would happen...Melissa has 175 mph winds and gusts above 200 mph at higher elevations.
the great extent to which people (and governments) are not responding or barely acknowledging Russia's hybrid war efforts thus far is extremely telling. It's like brain-dead frogs slowly boiling alive...
There's a lack of shared vision that our society can get better and is worth fighting for. It's easy to be cynical and say the toxic projects we live under don't deserve to be propped up.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
