Trump and the GOP trying to manifest a similar dynamic that keeps Africa Americans a solid Dem constituency among Latinos despite being generally more conservative than Dems overall. Pure gift to the Dems because the GOP can't help but be openly racist toward brown people.
No it's not if you had ever been around some of these guys. While still not as bad as being a Nazi, it isn't a ringing endorsement to be a US Senator either.
You would be surprised. A lot of these guys, while not Nazis still manage to somehow still be fans of the military imagery. Compartmentalizing to an extreme. Bad judgement at the least and he was not honest earlier today in what he knew about the symbol.
Yeah there is now evidence that he knew what it was at least a couple years ago. Don't think he is a Nazi but is definitely dumb and given his statement on it earlier today, a little dishonest.
He apparently got it Croatia and the conservation was probably little more than silent pointing "this one".
But it has now come out that he DID know what it was at least a few years ago which while I still don't think he is anywhere near a Nazi, shows both very poor judgement and dishonesty.
Fetterman had a relatively long history of running for and holding office in Pa and if anything his rhetoric was more "centrist" in the Senate run than his previous campaigns. He is an asshole but still to the left of either Manchin or Sinema.
He is running as a Dem. An actual Nazi leaner would run against Golden as a GOP. I think he is just a typical median voter(incomprehensible ideology) who decided to go for a high office first shot.
He explained when and how he got the tattoo (Drunk and in a foreign country) but he did not say what he is going to do with it now. His political newbness is very much on display now.
In this case I do want to be clear on bad candidate as in ignorant and dumb vs Nazi because one can be fixed a lot easier than the other. Primary voters are usually pretty good at sussing things out.
The question now is when he found out. He has not been clear on that and may have been as recently as yesterday when this first came up. His reaction so far does not scream secret Nazi, but dumb and politically inept.
He should have started at a much lower office and should have realized and been proactive about addressing this stuff. He is basically a typical median voter who decided to run for US Senate.
.....I do think it's plausible to go get a skull and bones tattoo and through ignorance get a nazi associated one.(Or close looking one) But most just end up with a generic skull and bones, not the Nazi one.
In most cases you should not start out on politics running for a US Senate race. I was willing to give him some slack for the reddit stuff and even the tattoo(there is little evidence he has any actual Nazi leanings) but his reaction to these relevations has ...not been good.
Most people would not know the difference between this and a general skull and bones. Planter has shown he is a typical median voter and all that entails. He was no where ready to run for a US Senate seat
You understand that makes you far more an expert on it than a misc chud from rural Maine right? Planter was politically dis-engaged till recently and this is why starting off at a US Senate run is a bad idea in the majority of cases.
He was at best really dumb and ignorant when he got the tattoo. So far he has admitted that but hasn't made a move to get it removed or covered. He really was not ready for a Senate campaign.
Yes, but most people would not immediately spot that vs other generic skull and bones. Jumping to calling him a Nazi is too much right now short of other indications. Calling him dumb and ignorant is right now, more called for.
He is a typical median voter. I won't jump straight to Nazi, that is mostly what I am reacting against(without other indications) but yes, he was no where near ready to run for US Senate at best.
