How many ppl signed up for YouTube TV yesterday only to cancel it today? I know I did.

Murder, She Wrote, season 1, episode 10. The background is ballet — the dancers are performing The Nutcracker yet ”the dagger wasn’t in the final scene because it’s a wedding”. Who am I to point out there’s no wedding in Nutcracker.

Things accomplished as a parent: taught almost 3yo say "ouchie Fauci".

Universe delivered a Lego set of Notre Dame that no one in our household bought.

My current theory: our 9,223,372,036,854,775,808th purchase triggered a bug in Amazon.

Typically "fairness" == "randomness". But it has to be contextual, otherwise it doesn't meet the implicit expectations of the person in the circumstances.

Say, you sign up to volunteer for a field trip with your kid's class. Too many volunteers and teachers choose randomly. Fair? Seems so. But.

Almost 3yo after trying overnight oats: "a little bit yummy, a little bit yucky".

"Is there any other dessert?" - asks 6yo - "this one looks healthy".

2yo's vocab is that of a third child: she knows Pokemons like Scorebunny and Quaxly and sings Albuquerque.

I feel embarrassed. And I lived through having Yeltsin as a president.

Listening to an audiobook America's Women: so educational. So depressing.

That's a first: saw a woman wearing a fur coat in Seattle.

That feeling when you're alone in a restaurant but out of habit grab enough napkins to save the table from three spilled waters.

If there's one single courtesy you can do for people with little kids: be on time. Missing or adjusting naps and food intakes have real consequences. 15 mins late can be a world of a difference.

Brought to you by a frustrated mom.

Feature request: Apple family admin console where I can see all devices - and update them from there - all my stuff, kids' - without moving physically from iPad to iPad.

People who create kids' products don't have kids. I don't know how else to explain the fact that half the pull-ups in the box have only Bluey on them - of course, 2yo consents to wearing only those with Bluey AND Bingo - and refuses to wear the rest. 🤷🏼‍♀️

First experience of Japanese cuisine for 2yo turned out traumatic: she confused matcha mochi she was eating - with wasabi - and grabbed a handful of similarly looking green stuff but oof.

Quick summary of our household situation is aptly captured by the 8yo question to his 2yo sibling "but where are the other six bunnies?"

2yo can snap her fingers because Captain Underpants.

Koan from a 6yo: if a kid who's been naughty all year wishes for a lump of coal for Christmas - what does he get?
December 29, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Aaaaaaaaah! Why no one can get the kids/family stuff right? You can set up an iPad with a kid account and control it from your iPhone but you cannot add said device to your Apple One Care? Even though the kid's account is part of your Apple family? 🤦🏼‍♀️🫠😭
