There was an episode of The Outer Limits where all of society had implants that accessed "the stream" (internet) to which they outsourced all their learning and creative thinking.
And as I type this on my smartphone while suffering through AI training videos at work, I can't stop thinking about it.

It stings a bit that I only saw this today, a week after I got back from a con themed around cowboys. I didn't know this story, and I got a little teary learning it. Some good inspiration in there. Well worth a watch on a snowy afternoon.
