So yeah, I fail at talking about Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon but I suspect I'm not the only one failing at this endeavour. youtu.be/seFUMWVOefs

Gilded Rage by @jacobsilverman.com starts with a Thomas Pynchon quote. I know there will be more important things later but this already makes me very happy.
Why do all interesting books come out on the same day? I hate to make choices like this.
Anyways, two chapters into Shadow Ticket, first explosion, first weird conspiracy theories. I think I made the right choice.
The inestimable @someokiedude.bsky.social keeps making the same mistake by inviting me to hang out with him on stream. So join us in 45 minutes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xllB...

The German title of the new Witcher novel is a perfect example why translators have to be not only human but also highly trained. "Crossroad" does translate to "Keruzung" and not "Kreuzweg" which is something very different but somehow it slippped through all controls.
The existence of edgelords implies the existence of vertexlords.
Having only 4 options for polls on Youtube is one of the dumbest things I've come across in a long time. Like why limit it this much? Also, wasn't it 5 at some point in the past? Am I going crazy?
I really love independent journalism but I just can't afford to pay for 20 newsletters. I think that's one of the main things the decline of legacy media made worse for readers. We have to narrow our reading and perspective because of financial constraints.
When it comes to economy and economic history I truly try to not just read leftists but when you cite Charles fucking Murray in a positive way you have lost all good will and trust and when you use "cognitive ability" when you're talking education you're already half-way down racist town.
So yeah, I really loved Lucky Day by @chucktingle.bsky.social and after reading it twice I made a video about it. I also mention Albert Camus and Terry Pratchett so you know it's good. Go read the book and maybe watch the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fOp...

So according to the FBI director evangelical christians go to Valhalla. Did they switch afterlives with norse pagans? Is this a timeshare deal? What about catholics? What about lutherans? What about other faiths? Do we get to chose or does the FBI decide that for all of us? Even for non-americans?
The fact I just submitted the first rating for Golgotha by @lavietidhar.bsky.social on Goodreads is both weird and depressing. The last time that happened it was an obscure academic publication but for a novel published by a pretty big publisher?
Oh yeah, it's a 5 star read for me.
This is tragic indeed.
I'm very happy Orde Wingate shows up in all his naked, onion-eating glory.
