Consider this: Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people seem intelligent until they speak. #thoughtfortheday #morselsofthought
I've just watched this for the first time. I am completely blown away. A transcendent, high-concept horror. Incredible, disturbing & mind-bendingly brilliant. Demi Moore's performance blew me away #thesubstance #demimoorefortheoscar

Late medieval urine wheel, c.1500. Before stethoscopes and x-rays, a pot of piss was an important diagnostic tool. The wheel usually consisted of 20 different colours ranging from "white as well-water" to "black as very dark horn." The colour was associated with various ailments.
The picture of the baby basket in the upper left corner is particularly poignant, given how high infant and child mortality was back then.

Victorian medicine chest, which contains medications for pain relief, such as opium. It also includes a set of scales, weights, a pill tile, and a spatula. It was probably used in the home or by an apothecary.

I have fantasies of finding one of these at auction priced really low. So cool. It'd match my antique microscope very well lol.

Robert Liston first used ether #OTD in 1846 at the University College Hospital. This was the first time ether had been used as an anaesthetic in the UK. Liston was assisted by Dr William Squire, who went on to design the Squire's inhaler to administer the anaesthetic.

The slow, backwards slip into the 19th century... Horrible.
Doctor watched son die of sepsis at hospital where she worked.

If an experienced paediatrician is ignored what hope is there for the rest of us?

Will this turn into another “lessons will be learnt” exercise?

I nearly lost my leg and died when I started going into septic shock.IV antibiotics saved my life & my leg. In the 19th century they weren't so lucky. In this day & age there's no excuse. That poor man.
When people say this to me, I think to myself "Seriously? If I could I would. It's not like I enjoy thinking about my trauma" One day I hope I will stop having nightmares and he will no longer have a hold on me. #mytraumadoesnotmakemeadifferentspecies #itsmylife #iwillsurvive
And the irony is that they were trying to come up with non-addictive alternative to morphine; Bayer actually touted it as a cure for morphine addiction and lots of Victorian chemists and Doctors insisted it was non-addictive!
Cannot believe the crap #elonmusk is spouting now. A German right wing neo-nazi party is "...the only thing that can save Germany" ?! What a douche-bag,to say nothing of the evil megalomaniac he is becoming/has become. #angelsandministersofgracedefendus #blueskyrocks
I've just come across a movie called "Evil Aliens" about....evil aliens. I mean they're not even trying lol. Time was when you had films about evil aliens with cool titles like Independence Day,Pacific Rim or Cloverfield. 😁😆 #mytwocents #moviemusings
When you find a forgotten box of Chocolate flavour Pop Tarts in the food cupboard and they're still in date. One of the benefits of being an adult is eating Pop Tarts at 10:30pm and giving zero f*cks lol. #poptartsareawesome #thechocotasticgroup

The happier man is one who avoids all the stress of going out and dealing with actual people and stays in with some #nachosandnetflix
I also like when LaForge or Data comes up with a super techy complicated plan & all Picard has to say is "Make it So", he doesn't even have to understand that shit 😆
I don't have children but I need this I'm my life lol.
Finally got around to putting the #christmasdecorations up. I'm particularly fond of my little pink Christmas tree. I think it's super cute. #christmastree #sparklesparkle #pinkismysignaturecolor,
