No doubt. On this import point tho- also worth noting that by running high tariffs and restricting imports to the US, it helps the profit margin of the ranchers, but adds further pressure to the cost of living burden for consumers.

The problem is ranchers are hesitant to reinvest in large herds b/c inflation is rising (driven largely by tariffs) and the price of beef is so much higher than pork or chicken. If a downturn hits, beef will be one of the first cuts from the shopping budget. Ranchers have been burned before 2/2

I'm no expert here - but right now cattle ranchers are doing okay due to high prices. To be fair, this feels like more of a result of small herd sizes and high demand than tariffs. Ranchers are paying bills and that doesn't happen every year. 1/2
