Finally switched from Orion as my work browser, now on Helium, will update later with thoughts.

Wanted to like Orion but it crashed *all the time*. Not viable to use imo. ~6month trial.

Still a Firefox girlie for my main tho. It’s just too solid to give up

And they try to trick you/wear you down with attrition into repeating the process over and over again with microsoft consent

hahahahaha right wingers on X getting mad at a bait PR to "detect problematic software environments" in systemd

absolutely kino bait, very funny
screenshot of a lunduke tweet:
"Someone developed (and submitted) a “detect-fash” utility for systemd.

“A utility to detect problematic software and configurations”

It searches Linux systems for installations of the Ladybird Web Browser, Hyprland, or if the system is Omarchy Linux.

It also contains code to detect if the user is @DHH
(creator of Ruby on Rails & Omarchy)"

When I login to Azure DevOps for work, the page redirects itself genuinely 10+ times. I really do wonder what happens internally over there.

Microsoft absolutely try to trick you. They reset defaults, fullscreen "Upgrade to Win11" with hella dark patterns, etc, etc

I'm not convinced it's for profit though, you're right, I'm not sure what they possibly get from half the shit they do. If I had to guess it's for some middle managers KPIs?

still passed the exam thankfully, but got like 60% instead of the 80%+ I know I would've

I'm not sure how MS made their drive UX so poor, I've never seen similar on Google or even Proton drives. Files just go missing sometimes? Or are moved to OneDrive randomly??

My university used OneDrive for student storage. My final exam allowed notes, synced to OneDrive, for use on exam computers (no external websites, USBs, etc)

I uploaded my notes at home, went in, & OneDrive refused to sync. I had no notes for the exam.

Microsoft sucks so much it's unbelievable

100%

but also: when I tell people they don't believe me, but I've moved to Linux now & the UX has been so much easier/nicer. The edge issue I mentioned above was one of my last straws.

No more fighting Microsoft for control of my own computer!

I lent my then-girlfriend a windows laptop, & she signed into Edge to sync her browsing data. Microsoft then REPLACED all my accounts (Office, Teams, Windows itself, EVERYTHING) with hers.

The only way to fix this was to go into regedit and perform an esoteric rain dance of a procedure

Fuck edge.

i have no idea on the quality of their codebase, or if the critiques people make are actually valid, but nevertheless I have 0 interest in contributing to something who's chosen public face so awful
