Our brains cannot possibly handle it. I think we have anxiety because we have unlimited amount of distraction. And though anesthetic. We don't have boredom anymore. Boredom is one of the ways we mentally process a lot of stuff.

If you don't do that behavior – you get punishment. You're growing up in a conditional love situation. Which is really common when your parent is a narcissist. And that will make you narcissistic.

And if it makes them feel proud, it means they are good parent. So this behavior that you do – determines whether they feel proud. And if they feel good- then they love you. You learn that love depends on this behavior. If you do this- you get love.

And that leads to narcissism. If you grow up with narcissistic parent, the way they feel about themselves depends on how you behave. They do something, makes you do something behave in certain way which makes them feel proud.

When you are not unconditionally loved, and when you the conditions are huge, your whole life is about conditional responses. Then what happens is someone becomes very attuned to things outside of them. They become focused on outside.

A narcissist forms from conditional love. When we unconditionally love someone we teach that person that there is something within you that is good. That is independent of how you act, how you look, how you behave.

When we talk about confidence – it's self confidence. It's not environment confidence, not jacked confidence, but when we become no longer dependent on the environment or who we were around or what happened. We just become comfortable with that injury.

Fear of judgment is also hierarchical thinking. They are going to judge me, which will put me down. So if your confidence is coming from how your environment is, then you're going to always need something – which is not confidence at all.

Nestled among mountain peaks, Oppenberg lies at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters on the banks of the Gullingbach stream. It is one of the most remote places in Styria. Although this settlement was so important to Emperor Maximilian due to its mining and hunting activities that he commissioned a special shrine to the Three Kings for the church here, the village nevertheless soon faded into obscurity. Today, fewer than 250 people live here, and in 2015, Oppenberg was merged with the town of Rottenmann in the Paltental valley. No one got rich in this remote area. Eighty-five percent of the village's land belongs to the Flick family, and they brought their money with them. Christmas was always an important holiday for the people of Oppenberg, even if it wasn't always about the presents. Elisabeth Schüßler grew up with her nine siblings on a farm in the valley. She still remembers vividly how her mother taught her a Christmas poem while she was helping out in the barn. She can still recite it by heart. It takes five minutes and is about—what else?—going without Christmas presents. Viktor Zelzer, the "Hoandl" farmer, still vividly remembers his experiences with the Krampus, how powerless he was against the wild devils. Eventually, he reached the age where he, too, was allowed to wear the mask. He still felt the same fear, even though he knew he was safe, because no Krampus would attack another Krampus. His wife, Martha, comes from eastern Styria. Although she wasn't originally familiar with the local doughnuts, she is now a sought-after doughnut baker, integrated into the community not least through the local traditions she embodies. Baking doughnuts was, for her, a kind of initiation into the village community. Hedwig Tiefenbacher is over ninety and drives her car even when snow chains are mandatory. She worked as a farmhand until she and her husband became farmers themselves. She fondly remembers an oracle game from her youth called "Hüatl zieh'n" (pulling a hat). Ludwig Hussauf was born fifty kilometers away in Wald am Schoberpass and has found his home here in Oppenberg. For him and his thirteen siblings, Christmas was simply the most wonderful time of the year. The same goes for his brother Viktor, who took over the family farm. The Ranner siblings had a long walk to school. Until a school bus was finally introduced, the older children still skied to school. The trip there took them two hours, and the return journey often much longer. Lisi still vividly remembers the severe avalanche danger. Hans Hüttenbrenner was the primary school teacher in Oppenberg for over forty years. His duties also included driving the children to and from school. He was also responsible for the village band. And, of course, he also served as the school caretaker.

Many traditions have evolved, while some have remained, such as the recipes for Christmas cookies and pastries. Many of these delicacies can still be enjoyed today. Schönbrunn Palace and its park attract millions of visitors every year. The pre-Christmas season at Schönbrunn, in particular, offers a journey into the past. Visitors can still sample winter and Advent specialties from the imperial era, such as Kipferl (crescent-shaped cookies), Gugelhupf (Bundt cake), and various delicacies made with Maroni (chestnuts, as they are called in Austria). With the reign of Empress Elisabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph, the Christmas holidays became true family celebrations, much as we know them today. The centerpiece was the exchange of gifts around the Christmas tree, not only for the family but also for the entire court and the many servants. Many Viennese pastries were created specifically for the imperial court and had to meet high standards. Sugar, the most important ingredient, was one of the most expensive commodities and was found exclusively in wealthy households. The Christmas tree was also decorated with sweets, such as meringue. Christmas cookies were usually made by the confectioners in the imperial kitchen. Nowhere else were ingredients of the highest quality and in such abundance available. Young people were employed in the servants and kitchen staff, learning the harsh realities of life at an early age. However, those who made it to the imperial court at least didn't go hungry. In simple households, it was traditional to gild nuts and craft straw stars to decorate the Christmas tree. Christmas carp, fresh from ponds in the Waldviertel and Bohemia or from the Danube, was served to both the gentry and the kitchen staff – thus for those "above" and those "below."
