Marisol wears a brand on her soul, of captivity, of years under the yoke of someone else's will. She remembers stone walls, and metal plate, and the acrid threat of Silence on the edge of the Fade. Be mine, Teia says, like an olive branch, like a bridge, like a safe place to land. But all Marisol hears, all she sees, all she feels against her wrists, around her throat- The bitter cinching of a leash.
