Did you know that RBS has more than 40 copies of Richard Wright’s 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘯?

Spanning the first printing of the 1940 first ed. to 21st-c. editions, some copies display interventions from readers & booksellers alike. Combined, they tell the rich bibliographical story of Wright’s acclaimed novel.

RBS recently hosted Shih-shan Susan Huang of Rice Univ. for a hands-on visit in which she, with UVA faculty & graduate students, learned about the history of the book in China through objects such as woodblocks, multi-color printed & illustrated books, rubbings & more from our Guanhailou collection.
