(another, cooler librarian said she wasn't allowed to forbid customers from borrowing books and scanned the book out for me. also a few weeks later i heard her call the first librarian a fuckface, which was the first time i ever heard the word fuckface. i hope she's doing well)

i think the only time i ever got told i wasn't allowed to read a book was by a librarian who didn't want me to borrow a book about the occult. same librarian also banned me from using the computers "for looking at porn" when i was using them to look up stuff about being gay in my teens

my parents never screened the books i read as a kid so it's kind of anathema to me to consider parents forbidding their kids from reading a certain book

also yes this resulted in me reading most of the necroscope series before i was 11 years old

Fun fact: i picked my fursona around Mid-Autumn Festival many years ago, trying to feel prouder and closer to my Hong Kong heritage that i had started to feel in my teens i wasn't allowed to celebrate, and in some ways that was an important step towards finding my own chosen family
