I've said elsewhere, not finding out is a massive achievement in ignorance that has to be almost impossible after 20ish years. Occam's Razor is he knew or found out in the interim and didn't care enough to get rid of it.

Neither of these options paint a great picture of a guy running for Senate.

He 1000% knew what it was, even if the anonymous source is bunk, I believe a close confidant of his when she says he is, or at least presents himself as, a military history buff. There is no outcome from this that paints him positively.

You know what, I got two blocks of text-on-white background mixed up. You're absolutely right about his campaign manager or whatever title she held, the anonymous source was from an alleged old friend/acquaintance of his claiming that he had called it a totenkopf.

I think this tidbit comes from the same source as the "he showed it off to people as 'this is my totenkopf' in a cutesy voice," with the source identifying him as a military history buff, so I'm not sure how vetted that information is.

That being said, I don't believe he never knew.

The issue with the Celtic tattoo is it's resemblance of yet another white supremacist logo. Anyone with two braincells to rub together would know that you shouldnt fly too close to the sun if you're trying to cover up another racist tattoo.
