It's weird, I could swear we as a society figured out the optimal UI for "logging into a webbed site" a good 30+ years ago, but lately devs keep trying to come up with new and innovative ways of making it worse.

Sudden flashback to using Gameshark on the N64 port to skip a fight I was stuck on, only to corrupt my save in a way where one of the area warps always led to an out-of-bounds forest section.
more mega man legends: if you use gameshark to high-jump out of the Marlwolf boss arena and try to enter Dungeon 3 early, it just shows "SAMPLE." at the door. also, when Sad Tiesel gets lifted away after losing the battle, he and his servebots turn into atari 2800 sprites below a distant ship model.

I'd been itching to get back into OSRS lately but after this cowardly display I don't really think I can justify it. Maybe it's foolish to expect full-hearted support for pride from a corporation like this, but the OSRS dev team always felt genuinely supportive and stifiling them like this is wrong.
Runescape canceled its pride event because of false gamergate claims. No games have been canceled nor studios shut down because they were "woke." You'd only think that if you got all your news from Twitter. A gross and sad result of warped social media reality. www.gamedeveloper.com/business/rep...
