I couldn't live with myself
if someone gave up joy
because I lacked empathy
to honor theirs.

Life spins...a carousel, round and round,
A dance of dreams where illusions abound.
The steed moves on in rhythmic trance,
Blaming the tune or the ride by chance.

Another token in the whirling ring,
The cycle flows, no end, no spring.
A free ride longed for, softly denied,
Hope dissolves as giddiness strides.

Pierced by the pole in a cruel ballet,
The dismount comes when lights decay.
When silence settles and echoes fade,
A heavy hush haunts the empty arcade.
