@surg-water.bsky.social harnesses rainwater collected from the rooftops of maternal health facilities in Malawi and uses the sun’s UV rays to disinfect it, making it safe for mothers and healthcare workers. The project secured €1.1 m to scale its solar-powered disinfection reactor. @rcsi.bsky.social

A new set of resources for women w/ epilepsy will be launched at @rcsi.bsky.social this week. Researchers working on the EpiKNOW project have designed these resources to help women navigate preconception, pregnancy, birth & post-partum stages.

When Dr Agnes Binagwaho returned to Rwanda after the Tutsi Genocide, she saw more children dying in 24 hours than she had in 10 years as a paediatrician. She reflected on who would "change the lives of those kids who are dying ... [from] preventable and treatable diseases".

Dr Chiara Pittalis is PI of a new research project focused on the impact of climate change on water access & maternal health in rural Guatemala.

Funded by Irish Aid, the project will support policy & health system improvements in Guatemala & offer valuable insights for other countries.

Yesterday, Prof. Agnes Binagwaho became the third recipient of the Cameron Award for Population Health at @rcsi.bsky.social. A Rwandan paediatrician, Prof. Binagwaho returned home in 1996 following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi & played a pivotal role in rebuilding the country’s health system.
