Trump has now cut off funding for two key infrastructure projects here in New York because of "irregularities" in the contracting process. It's apparently related to "DEI" otherwise known as "you're not hiring enough white men".

For a number of years we have been encouraged to replace gas and oil appliances with electrical ones on the assumption that in the near future, a large percentage of our electricity would be generated renewably.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw a black SUV with DHS plates at a nearby state park. Do they think some of the rangers are undocumented (that's not happening), or are they going to start profiling hikers? WTF?
I think the point is that no one should feel safe anywhere.

The VOA video stream, which used to carry international news, is now a loop of puerile graphics with a message that henceforth VOA will be fair and balanced. It should be changed to “VOA will not be”.

The Big Bad Bill authorizes the hiring of far more federal agents and the construction of far more detention facilities than are required to enforce immigration laws. What do you think the administration has in mind? We are creating our own Gestapo, Stasi or FSB.

In the future, we (the US) must hold persons who take part in illegal deportations individually responsible for actions that violate international law.

Like almost all Republicans, Mike Lawler (NY 17) voted for the Big Bad Bill. His district was represented by Democrats for 40 years and voted for Obama (twice), Clinton, Biden and Harris. Lawler is an anomaly. If we go all out in 2026 we can beat him.

Dems need to do whatever they can to block Trump’s big bad bill. Requiring the bill to be read on the floor was a good first step. Keep using parliamentary procedure as a form of civil disobedience.

Perhaps one of the reasons ICE agents are masked is to conceal their background as Rikers Island guards, Proud Boys and J6ers.

Beware the 2025 version of the Reichstag fire -- a dramatic event (think 9/11) that leads to a declaration of emergency. Troops in the streets "keeping them clear". MSM focused on the event, not the state of emergency, which is the real news. This was Putin's, and Hitler's, playbook.
