Two years ago, I started a book club, PediaLit, for pediatricians who want to use books to connect with their patients. We are only reading #KidLit 🙂

I’ll post our monthly selections here (I used to post these over…there) and on Instagram (same handle) if you want to read along!
Thanks for your editing advice. I was just waiting for the right time ❤️
Vanilla cupcake with rainbow sprinkles for you!
Chocolate cupcake for you!
If you did something on my birthday list today, tell me about it!! I’ll send you a pretend piece of cake 🙂
Thanks for helping me celebrate my birthday!!
10- tell an author or illustrator you adore what they mean to you, through their website, social media, or a book review. Show them that they, and not AI, are true artists that cannot be replaced
9- support the right to read! All kids deserve to have access to books in which they feel seen and can see others. @weneeddiversebooks.bsky.social
7- shop at an indie bookstore or support all indies on www.bookshop.org
6- donate to a food bank or a diaper bank. Give cake mix or a special treat to make someone’s day
5- if you see someone wearing a bike helmet, give them a thumbs up and a smile
4- compliment a parent doing a great job. If you see someone calmly handling a tantrum or laughing with their kid or singing with a child in the grocery aisle, say, “you’re doing amazing” and then keep walking
3- spread the truth about vaccines. Vaccines are safe, effective, and lifesaving. For ever lie you see on social media about vaccines, refer people to www.immunize.org
2- promote an organization that supports the LGBTQIA community
1- go to your library and ask them, “how can I best support you right now?”
Tomorrow is my birthday! Would you like to help me celebrate? Here is my wish list. Repost and share it to help me start the year off right!
And Ellen Outside the Lines!
I had not! Thanks for showing me!
Let us all use this moment as another opportunity to raise our voices, to demand representation for all. Let us not forget that elected officials work for us. All of us.

Carla Hayden, thank you for your dedication and service to our country. I was so proud to have you as my librarian.
When they come for libraries, they come for all of us. They come for our access to our past and the words we need to imagine the future. They come for the truth. They come to control.

We can’t let this happen. A librarian should never be limited in their ability to welcome all of us
I am heartbroken at her termination from the position. Not just because she was the first woman to hold the post, or because she was the first Black woman, or because she was an actual librarian, which has not always been the case for holders of the position.

I’m sad for us, as Americans.
She displayed our library’s treasure with pride. She showed us the wealth of knowledge and history that we can all access. She promoted inclusive literature and made sure that every one of us had a place in the library because the Library of Congress belongs to ALL of us
Carla Hayden is an inspiration. As the Librarian of Congress, she devoted herself to making it truly the people’s library- a representative and safe space for all Americans. Her choices for literature ambassadors, her programs, her social media and public interactions were all library joy.
