Please, I beg you to pay attention. They don't need the miller test, they don't need book challenges. They are banning books via twitter now. The goalposts have shifted and they are unphased by the ruling as the commissioner just tweets which books to remove where.

Jodi Picoult saying "okay florida i see you" but not talking about the fact that the FL BOE can just tweet at superintendents to tell them to ban her books now, the way they just did to my superintendent about Trans Mission by Alex Bertie is telling me that no one is actually seeing Florida at all.

How about all of you actually listen to the vast majority of HCPS parents like myself who have reiterated time and time and time again WE DONT WANT YOU PULLING BOOKS OFF THE SHELVES AND VIOLATING HCPS PROCESS. Fuck you.

They gave NO defense for why they voted this way and the attorney from Pasco County attorney's office shut down a patrons request to understand the collection double standard of why this book must be in the adult section but Amelia Bedelia's First Vote can stay in the children's section.

Pasco county library system voted unanimously to keep Jacob's Missing Book by Ian Hoffman and Sarah Hoffman in the ADULT NON FICTION section today rather than move it to the children's section where it belongs. The meeting was ridiculous and disgusting.

The Commissioner posted this “proof” without evidence that it was from a student profile within a FL school district’s account.

These are reading lists from a public library’s account without access to read the books in app.

Each account can develop unique reading challenges for their users.
Beanstack’s statement:

Beanstack @zoobeanreads on Twitter

We've reviewed the recent concerns raised by the Florida Commissioner and remain committed to supporting our districts in using Beanstack to grow a strong culture of reading, now and always.

We are aware of the Florida Commissioner of Education's letter to public educators, instructing them to conform to state law when using the Beanstack platform. In that letter, he mentioned an incident of misuse. Upon further investigation, we determined that the event he referenced did not involve any school district's Beanstack account.

We believe that all Florida districts and charter schools are using our platform in accordance with applicable state regulations and do not provide access to materials that are not age- or developmentally-appropriate for students. Our personal opinions aside, we do not make policy recommendations to any of our government clients. Instead, we respectfully leave that duty to elected officials and their constituents.

We continue to stand ready to support all our school districts in leveraging Beanstack to motivate students to read and to grow a culture of reading. Anastasios Kamoutsas

Instead of focusing on reading and math proficiency, this is the ideology that education platforms are trying to force upon our students.

Not on my watch.

"They're not banning books they're removing explicit books from public schools" then whats this? Bc the public libraries in Hernando county are being changed by a small group who want to remove what they don't like, calling it "woke". That's not about public schools OR explicit content. #bookbans

Moms for liberty keeps telling me this book isn't appropriate for public schools so I read it myself to be an informed parent. Now I have things to say about it. Wanna see my thoughts on Felix Ever After early? Join the free tier of my Bindery readswithrachel.binderybooks.com
