Pub of the Year 2024 has to be another National Inventory entry, the Low House (Kings Head) in Laxfield. Superb pedal in Suffolk in the summer heat, lovely old pub with historic features, fantastic ales straight from the cask and friendly staff. Superb all round.
2-0 up away in the North East and the oppo go down to ten men. typical of our luck that the game then gets abandoned in the second half due to rain. We never get any good luck I swear. Gutted for those that travelled

Kim Wilde at the BBC 😍.
Enjoyed that and great that it included her clip on Going Live with Trevor and Simon #swingyourpants

Poor picture on the way home but the current giant statue at Snuggbury's is Paddington. Looks amazing in real life

Fourth and final National Inventory pub this holiday, the 3* Half Moon Inn at Cheriton Fitzpaine. Nice 6X, friendly chat and lovely pub. Liked the glazed divide between bar and lounge especially.

Nice mooch round Winkleigh today. 2 pubs in village, both open all day, yards apart and 7 real ales between them! First the Seven Stars

Far too heavy for 13% climbs but got up somehow to Meeth and the start of the #TarkaTrail. Lovely trail so far but typically part is shut later. Bet the diversion has chevron climbs!

Cycling the Tarka Trail to Barnstaple. Horrid climbing before I even getting the start. Lovely scenery in North Devon.

Still can't believe I managed to climb up to Haytor and cycle part of Dartmoor. Breathtaking in a couple of ways. You can't go wrong with @jackthurston.bsky.social Lost Lanes books.

Lost Lanes West by @jackthurston.bsky.social today. No 23 starts in Bovey Tracey with a stiff 5 mile climb. Rest at 2.5 needed but lovely route so far.

Straight into my top 10 the Oxenham Arms in South Zeal. National Inventory, what an entrance....

First visit to Okehampton in Devon. Nice little place.
November 15, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Grim day for a long drive. This part of the country has 6 National Inventory pubs (of which I've visited two). Plus a @jackthurston.bsky.social Lost Lanes cycle on my list if it ever stops raining. Also got a well known cycling/walking route to pedal. No more clues, find out the first pub tomorrow 🍺

well no prizes for guessing pub and beer of the day. Old Tom on bar stillage at the Fox in Brookbottom. Wonderful
November 8, 2025 at 9:23 PM
Off to Buxton with the bike fitting perfectly into the allotted bike spaces 🙄. Northern train to Stockport to start the ride.
November 8, 2025 at 9:06 AM
Buxton away tomorrow so going to pedal from Stockport station again. Got an inventory pub on the list too. Always a good drinking trip over there, must remember to pick up my usual Buxton Pudding.

Another little jolly round Frodsham tonight. Two winners for me, the Red Lion (no cask) and Number 13 (v good Weetwood). Latter deducted points for having a Christmas tree in early November

Loved this episode. Quite emotional near the end too. What a true legend, Jones the Voice

Little gem to finish, the National Inventory Blue Ball in Grantchester. Friendly vibe, love the two small rooms and the unusual pub game (look it up). Top beer on too.

Cambridge away in the cup today. Cant do this one by bike but I've got the opportunity for a couple of National Inventory pubs instead. One of the Famous Five as well - been in every edition of the Good Beer Guide 🍻

Really enjoying my selection of green hop beers. The one closest to what I'd expect is @ramsgatebrewery.bsky.social . No fuss, just lets those fresh Kent hops do their job. Splendid 🍻
