This may be well meaning, but the military industrial complex (accelerating climate change) that we uphold, esp in contributing to izrael's genocide in Palestine, & giving $50,000 to market the cup, months after they say they don't have the funds for search and rescue/fire is directly related.

One of many thoughts on these fires. It doesn't have to be this way.

Text on the photo says We have a shortage of water bombers for aerial firefighting in this so called country (they've known this and have been warned and have done the bare minimum, if that), yet the kanadian military just 5 days ago, has dug it's heals in, pushing for the kanadian gov to uphold it's plans to order of 88 F-35 fighter jets. The price for the 88 fighter jets since 2023 has went from $19 billion to at least $27.7 billion and could go as high as $33.2 billion. 88 water bomber planes at ~$40 million each would be about $3.6 billion. F-35 jets/other fighter jets and the bombs they drop terrorize our planet, destroying environments and contribute heavily to climate change. They are also deployed to commit genocide in Palestine, and to other 'war zones' to assert western imperialism. We can't be silent about these parallels. To increase our percentage of GDP from 2% to 5% on 'defense'/military spending for NATO is murder to us all and our planet. I was reminded at a rally to ask - why are we seeing the increasing cuts to public services at the same time? What the government prioritizes, tells us everything when we pay attention and listen to marginalized communities.

Reminder that everytime a kanadian politician mentions Oct. 7th, they will never tell you the truth that izrael killed their own that day. And everyday before and after has been an ongoing massacre of Palestinians. Not one that hasn't been met with resistance.

A Palestinian state, with no right of return, disarmed, recognized by the same nations aiding and abetting the genocide of Palestinians and theft of their land, is only a tool of colonization, imperialism, and repression of dissent.

But the states commiting genocide must stay militarized right? We should be so so SO sick of this bullshit. Kanada says as a part of NATO they are one of the first to advocate and work for peace, which is true because this is always a "negative peace", genocide and apartheid out of our eyes in a peaceful and quiet and blind west. Peace from their duplicitous tongues – is never peace for everyone. A state of Palestine under these conditions means nothing but a place for the west to colonize further, continue and expand what has been happening in the West Bank, under the izraeli Palestinian authority, just with less global outrage, if we believe in this or platform it for one second. Mental health care is almost inaccessible and stigmatized, food is out of peoples budgets, designated encampment sites in the city are being shut down one by one, and social programs are being cut. Disgusted with our colonial governments.

Homelessness has doubled and is exponentially growing, because the people in power value developers and investors and themselves more than everybody else. Everyone is disposable for private property.

People will ALWAYS use drugs. They should have safe and clean 24/7 access to pipes, needles, substances, naloxone, and anything else that keeps drug users safe. This literally saves lives and helps people transition off drugs if THEY WANT to. We need to destigmatize drug use all together.

People who are already forced to be resilient shouldn't be put under more trauma and stress to become even more resilient. There is no where for them to go and we should stay on top of this because when this leaves the news cycle and eyes aren't on ACSS, they will likely evict substance users

Harm reduction saves lives and ACSS replacing them is expected to change the modular homes to a dry site. Sure the people living there are resilient but there are only 2 other living places that have access to harm reduction supplies and dont force people to be sober and they are both full.

Ultimately, this is murder.
The services and care for people who use substances have to be protected and expanded!!! This province is aligning with the national trend to criminalize and disappear substance users into forced 'treatment' or jail or death.
