The Outlaw Express
Fortune favors the bold for everyone except the dimwitted. Thought they’d nab some loot, but these days everyone’s going broke. Like a silent flick gone wrong, the numbskulls scrammed while the train chugged off, chaos and calamity in tow, because on this side of the tracks everyone's an outlaw. “The Outlaw Express”, 2025, spatially collaged digital animation by Rebecca Rose. 1/1 in three aspect ratios: 16:9 dimensions: 1920 x 1080 at 238mb (2 versions: with sound and silent), 1:1 dimensions 1080 x 1080 at 136.8mb (2 versions: with sound and silent), 9:16 dimensions 1080 x 1920 at 238mb (2 versions: with sound and silent), duration: 0:49. Includes a total of 8 files of 3 different on-chain formats plus a black and white silent film variant with and without sound, to accommodate digital displays, made possible through Transient Labs using the TL7160 contract. The original soundtrack was composed with AI assistance with sound mixing by the artist. This piece is the sixth chapter in “Tragic Kingdom” -animated stories from a fictional theme park’s underbelly, and part of the ongoing series “DeepCuts” -3D collages with depth inspired by songs.  Rebecca Rose is an award winning collage artist exploring spatially collaged sculpts and animations. Her 20+ year body of analog, sculptural, and digital collage has received multiple major artist grants co-sponsored by The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, The Andy Warhol Foundation, The Joan Mitchell Foundation, The Willem de Kooning Foundation, The Andrew Mellon Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and Bloomberg Philanthropic. She has sold at Christie’s, created work for The Norman Rockwell Museum and was an artist in residence at The Joan Mitchell Center, Ox-Bow/SAIC, Selkie Rio Art Residency, and AOTM AiR Cohort 1.

make the waves you want to ride,
I'm looking for the big kahuna 🏄‍♀️
I’m cranking the gas on submissions to film festivals, exhibitions, galleries, streaming apps- all of it.

To achieve long term familiarity/ instant visual recognition, my work needs to be seen and experienced by public eyes en masse.
So I’m gonna do it.
Been thinking about the elements to impactful storytelling and distilled it into 4 main camps:

relatable characters / situations
action told through body language
conflict / dramatic climax
comeuppance

Silent films from the early 1900s and most mid-century cartoons are great educators

The old magician takes the floor,
his act, alas, has lost its roar.
His helper, black and blue in pain,
dreads being sawn in half again.
Nice to see you too! Love your work, big collage vibes 🥰❤️🫶
