I absolutely couldn’t agree more! I’m looking more for professional development books about teaching nonfiction reading strategies.

Besides Beers + Probst, do you have favorite professional texts for teaching nonfiction reading? #edusky #english #ela

My brain is a little bit broken right now, and I need some suggestions: a text to teach above-level 7th grade readers with a focus on character analysis.

Help?

I have questions about the San Diego Quick Assessment of Reading Ability.

Anyone use it? Or know anything about it?

"The goal of a flash draft is *not* to do incredible writing," reminds educator @rebekahodell1.bsky.social "The goal is ... to overcome our fear of the blank page."

Here's how she supports her Ss in achieving it:
Document titled "Flash Draft Progression." At the top of the page are general instructions reminding students that the goal is simply to get started and generate writing. Below are detailed instructions for three specific strategies: "Flash Draft Dressing Room," to allow students to try on different ideas, plus "Flash Draft 101" and "Flash Draft + Flash Revise."

I've Changed My Mind about _______.

This is a great #mentortext for student argument writing:
* Previous opinion? (Previous Claim + Outline of Previous Reasons)
* Why revise? (New Reasons +Evidence)

Mine would be about WICKED. :) What would yours be about?

Same. And I think that’s it. It’s DOING but a physical kind vs intellectual kind?

It’s really the only thing g — including reading— that slows me down.
