56 years ago today Chairman Fred Hampton was shot and killed in his bed during a predawn raid at his Chicago apartment by a tactical unit of the Cook County Sheriffs Department with the Chicago Police Department and the FBI. During the raid, Panther Mark Clark was also killed.

Referring to people as “shark feed” is not just crude rhetoric it’s dehumanization. Dehumanization is a psychological prerequisite for mass violence and when it’s broadcast casually on mainstream media, it functions as a tool for manufacturing consent. This is a well documented propaganda method.
