Just been away from Japan a few months but it is obvious the weak yen has raised inflation here, even on stuff I would not directly expect, like sashimi etc.

Yeah, Lindsey Vonn is a winner of life itself.

"I hope if you take away anything from my journey it's that you all have the courage to dare greatly. Life is too short not to take chances on yourself. Because the only failure in life is not trying.“

Lived in this area 25 years.

When I came here, had nearly nothing, now I am good, & bought this apartment for cash years ago.

So I think - scatter my ashes in the water here?

Then I hear a water sound, & see a guy pissing off the back of a yakatabune, into the water

Ok, I’ll stay in the urn🤣

Based on my mother’s recommendation I watched Hamnet

A bit of a slow burn, with perhaps an overly redemptive payoff. Very sparse script, ironically in modern English, except for the plays. Some lovely Vermeer-esque imagery

We enjoyed it, though not for everyone

Get’s around..

I am missing the early mornings living in HK.

Smelling incense on the walk to work in central, seeing shop owners open their shutters, and stand in the entrances praying for a prosperous day.

Stopping off for my juicy mushroom burger and cappuccino breakfast, by the harbour. Good days.

Damn, I woke up missing pre-internet 🇯🇵, 懐かしい

There were no apps, google, or e-maps

Life was uncontrollable. Just had to surf what it gave you. And every single interface was a living, nuanced, complex - human

And our “high tech” skills were - talking, wit, empathy

I had underfloor heating in my apartment for 5 years and never used it. I was working so hard, I was not aware it was there. For 5 years it was just a place to crash

Then with Covid WFH, I was able to engage with my home.

Also mostly worked outside on the deck which was lovely

An acquaintance formed a new #fintech company in 🇺🇸 3 years ago, as CEO, raised $25m in VC, had the product built, and an initial sponsor client, then ran out of road before take off so the money men have fired him - from the company he founded

No to handouts, bootstrap value!

So SpaceX likely to run Twitter now, via a consolidation with xAI? Juicing up their IPO.

I cannot imagine properly managing a social media platform will be anywhere near the top of their priority list.

There is an urban farm right next to my apartment, had a last look over before I leave🇬🇧.

Very popular with kids.

Caught up with someone who had had dinner with Howard Luntnik, pre-Trump, back when he was at Cantor

Said he had exerted pressure to hire certain folks, and to use his associated real-estate company

Couldn't understand how Trump and Lutnick work together - ego-driven bullies

Back to 🇯🇵next week, what have I learned in 🇬🇧?

* The quality of life is good
* Folks are pissed - for reasons that have not impacted them directly
* Inflation driven by corporate pre-empting upticks in advance
* As folks age they lose mojo
* AI little impact
* WFH common

IMO

Had a bit of a discussion about buying boats.

That cliche - buying a boat is the second best day of your life, but selling it is the best…

Nice day in London today.

So I’ll walk to my meeting.

Might see some sights along the way.

Never been a handy man type, not had time, always paid to have stuff fixed.

My father, who was, died before he had a chance to teach me.

But just fixed my bedroom blinds today, and wow, it really gives a primeval sense of achievement.

Understand now why some folks enjoy it.

Never had a beard in my life. I guess reason is I think women will not like it, also I have light hair…

Except when I was 13 year old, and came back from a week orienteering in the Lake District.

My father just looked at me and said “time to get you a razor”😉

Now getting funky answers when I ask my personalised AI about my assets.

So sorting that, is today’s task, ahead of a delicate HNW meeting on Wednesday.

Yes I know, I know, I am dancing with the devil…but then again, I always have🤷‍♂️
