Very well stated!

I've also been impressed by the photo-search-by-text feature, but I feel the critical distinction is that those sort of use cases are the opposite of generative. Consumptive? Analytical? So it can classify data, but isn't generating something fake and unoriginal

As it turns out, coyotes are good climbers. They loped up and down these limestone cliffs like they were mountain goats. #mammals 🌿

In short:
If you think company will do ok/well in long term - treat as a savings account and hold!

If you want the cash but also minimize taxes - after vest, wait to sell until it's long-term gains

If you don't trust stock price to be stable and are willing to eat the tax rate - sell at vest

How exactly taxes are handled at vest date depends on the company plan - some just take n% of shares directly, some sell and pay n% of value, and some even let you transfer in n% cash if you want to hold as much equity as possible

Depends on whether company is public or private and if you're granted RSU or options.

Assuming RSUs and public company:
You get a share grant
At vest date, they're income
Taxes taken at market value at vest
You can hold or sell
Pay taxes on gains between vest and sale date
(Less if long term sale)
