Happy #MCartday!

Spears!
With the newly introduced spears, I've been having fun with some named variants for them.
There's a lot of new weapon possibilities that weren't really applicable before. :3

While I do really like the idea of using lunge to propel yourself with elytra, I think that could warrant increasing the durability cost more.
(maybe as more of a percentage than a flat amount, if possible?)
Just tried it, definitely feels better!

Of course they just changed the mending exclusivity, but the reduced damage is nice (makes it at least usable on wooden spears), and I kinda love the idea of being able to use it with elytra.

I think a longer cooldown for lunge could be reasonable.
Yyyup!
It's a small eyesore normally, but it doesn't stand out a ton and is whatever.

But on larger items it really sticks out. It's never been an issue so it was tolerable, but now with spears.. it desperately needs to be addressed.
That being said, it doesn't have to be AS fast as it currently is.
I think a reasonable balance for lunge would be adding an extended cooldown to the jab, whilst keeping the duration differences between materials.
Wooden (and Golden) Spears can only use lunge ONCE without breaking, and that's only with unbreaking.
I feel that's a shame because it could be really interesting to have incentive to use a lower tier weapon for faster dashes.
With the 2nd Snapshot being out, I think allowing Mending with Lunge was a good call, mainly because the exclusion doesn't make a ton of sense.

However, I still dislike the huge durability cost.
Not because it restricts it, but because it's borderline unusable on wooden spears.
Initial thoughts on the Spear
(bit late, but I still wanted to talk about it)

Functionally, it's amazing!
Animations are great, charge attack is cool, lunge enchant feels incredible!

Numbers-wise, as many have already said, it's a bit underwhelming.
From the perspective of a Bedrock player who doesn't have this issue, it may seem like something they'll obviously fix.
However, this has been an issue on Java for 11 YEARS.

And it looks worse the bigger the item is, so it's particularly bad with spears.

Soooo this has yet to be addressed.

It's not the end of the world if they release the spear like this, but... it's certainly not the greatest it could look.

This Drop would be a phenomenal time to fix this issue on Java, Mojang!

Gaps can be seen at the edges of the generated model.
All that being said, it's a fantastic start!
If they just address the issues I think it'll be an incredibly fun and interesting addition.

Another issue that NEEDS to be addressed, which has been overlooked because it will "obviously" be fixed, is the gaps in the model.
One possible reason is to make it unusable with a wooden spear, which has the fastest jab.
But if that's the concern, just add a longer cooldown with lunge.
If they completely fix anvil repairing (which they need to do regardless) then I think it's tolerable, but I think the durability penalty should just be removed outright.
(even considering Unbreaking III changes it to only a 30 durability loss)
At least a 1 dmg increase, and increased damage at lower charge levels.

Lunge is awesome, but the insane durability loss + no mending is WAY to harsh.
What could be a super fun enchantment likely just wouldn't be used much by most players in its current state.
No crits is fine, it's more range-focused than dps (which is good 'cause it'd prolly be wayyy overpowered if it had both), but the base damage, especially when using the charge, just doesn't have the *wow* factor I feel it deserves.

Ever since the Pale Garden was being teased I've *loved* the idea of a petrified forest; providing a gray wood type that's uniquely made of 'stone'.

I've also recently realized, not only would it be cool as a cave biome, it almost NEEDS to be, as spawning in one could be awful.
