Born in Leeds, raised in Weymouth and now settled in Ham straddling the Kingston/Richmond border in SW London. I love walking, theatre, architecture, politics, radio drama, pubs and reading comics.
That’s the old Chinatown, the new one is in Whitechapel where estate agents have Chinese speakers and many shops have signs in two
languages, sometimes with Chinese first.

It’s not a “claim”, it’s a fact. Do better.
November 21, 2025 at 9:32 PM
People in City of London may be surprised at that smallest city claim!

Sadly the semi-legit local newspaper chain run by Newsquest also continually peddles the London is dangerous myth.

Two shot and two stabbed in shocking four days across London
Two teenagers have been shot and two people stabbed in a shocking few days across London.

Apparently the strange beasts are perfectly fine but the reference to small boats is not!

London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

And, yes, coffee mugs without handles really annoy me.
November 20, 2025 at 10:39 AM
It wouldn’t be the same song but it would still be a song. A teapot without a handle is a level of evil that even Gail’s have not reached yet.
November 20, 2025 at 10:38 AM
Except that the teapot needs a handle to function but a song or picture does not need the embedded sample. I think a sample is incidental to the new work, not a fundamental part of it.
November 20, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Unless the new teapot has two handles then the new one is just a copy of the old. This is more like plagiarism than sampling.

I’m not going to wade through the TED Talk again but @romanmars.bsky.social gives the example of one flag including another in amongst several motifs. This is unlike, say, the Australia flag which includes the UK flag prominently (still, for some reason).

And thanks to you for picking this up. One of the things I liked about the original ComiXology was that they understood how comics work and how people buy them whereas Amazon thinks a comic is a book. So glad to see comics fans back in the digital game. Now get Image on board!

Will be filling some gaps and it would be useful if the descriptions for the volumes and omnibuses made it clear which issues they include so that I could find those gaps easily.

So your chart showing the Greens well to the left of the Lib Dem’s, with Labour between them, is meant to prove your point that they’re the same?!

Democracy is not a waste of money. If I want to vote for a party then that should be my choice, not the party’s.

If we believe that migration is a serious problem then why do we let British people migrate?

Typical British arrogance here, we have eff all that China wants to steal or learn from. We’re the toddler in the room thinking that the world revolves around us.
November 18, 2025 at 1:24 PM
As a Londoner I very much welcome this move but as someone who has been to many European cities I also despair at how little has been done here. London, like rest of UK, is very much car first and we’ll see what we can do for everyone else in any space that is left. London is not a walking city.

A little surprised to find cake for sale in @sainsburys.bsky.social Ham Parade on 16 Nov with a sell by date of 14 Nov. Only a little surprised though.

I’ve seen Kew taking sticks etc off people on the grounds of bio security!

My comic reading habits have changed a lot over 60+ years and I was an early adopter of digital with ComiXology until they became part of the Evil Amazon Empire so it is wonderful to see a new entrant @neonichiban.bsky.social and even better to start with a story by @jockbsky.bsky.social
