Important but atrociously written. First it uses the "critics argue" framing to absolve the author from stating the obvious fact that there is no actual insurrection. Then it takes the administration's word that they plan to "exhaust all other options"...for putting down a nonexistent insurrection?

I used to think that these tech companies were just spineless in the face of aggressive fascism, but their continual decisions to capitulate with little or no actual pressure is convincing me that they might not have any problem at all with fascism.

I don't think we really need additional proof that Trump has no intention to ever leave office, but, if you needed any, the idea that he'd use money he'd personally extorted from American institutions/corporations for a White House ballroom and hand that over to the next President is laughable

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

The idea, popular in tech, that it takes a degree of ruthlessness unencumbered by morality to win is false. It's led us into accepting the worst leaders as both special & necessary. We do not need to accept these people as leaders of our companies or countries. We don't need to accept them at all.

Well he literally tried to get the CTO/co-founder to fire me from my new job for using Netlify in a tutorial I did for the company (I was not aware we were in partnership discussions). That story actually gets more interesting too in terms of pettiness but I'll leave it at that for now.
