Whether it’s masked agents in Minneapolis or militants in the Middle East, we are seeing what happens when leaders prioritize “fire, ready, aim” over the rule of law, our columnist Tom Friedman writes.

A sharp, beautifully written piece by @oliviapaschal.com on Walmart’s “nostalgic capitalism” and the anarcho-capitalist conjuncture. www.nplusonemag.com/online-only/...
The Beast of Bentonville | Olivia Paschal
In retrospect, the week of Donald Trump’s inauguration was an inopportune time for Walmart to hold the grand opening of its new corporate campus.

Had a great conversation about the Iran hostage crisis in my America in the 1980s class today. The students really seemed to enjoy the assigned chapters from David Farber’s book Taken Hostage, and they drew some wonderful linkages between the 1979–81 crisis and the current situation in Iran. 🗃️

Good news coming out of the business meeting at #AHA26. Apparently the alternative slate performed quite well, which means we’ll see major changes on the Council. Further, the Resolution in Solidarity with Gaza passed overwhelmingly. 🗃️

Wild that the Trump administration has chosen to defend Jonathan Ross to the hilt instead of throwing him under the bus, despite all the incriminating evidence. Seems to be part of a larger project to make “mass deportation,” ICE, and law enforcement in general unassailable, which is terrifying.
