What was once one of Memphis’ most distressed areas is now some of the best public housing in America—safe, modern, beautiful homes for 700+ families.

Trump had the GOP shut down the government in the middle of a health care crisis—and now he’s sending troops into American cities, including Memphis, to intimidate people and score political points.

Memphis doesn’t need an occupying force. We need real partnerships and investment in our people.

Trump is now saying he'll force civil servants to work through the GOP shutdown without backpay. He'll steal their paychecks to try and force Democrats to cave on ACA credits.

This is not the time to back down. Not while they threaten workers’ pay AND your healthcare—all to help billionaires.

Republicans control the White House, Senate & House. They set this shutdown deadline, and then jammed through the Big Ugly Bill gutting SNAP, Medicaid & ACA tax credits to enrich billionaires.

Now they need Dems and won't negotiate—and blocked us from offering an alternative.

It's a GOP shutdown.

The long-term solution to crime is better schools, more job opportunities, more mental health resources, and real law enforcement partnerships. Not the National Guard.

Trump's deployment won't solve crime. The real concern is it's a cover for ICE to rip good, hardworking people from our community.

Former interim Mayor & longest-serving Memphis councilman Myron Lowery lived a life of service with integrity & grace. Myron and I supported each other through elections, but more important was our 50-year friendship. I’ll miss him. Condolences to Mary, Mickell, and his family. A life well lived.

Trump forced out a respected Republican US Attorney who wouldn't charge James Comey, and replaced him with a real estate lawyer with no criminal law experience—but who knew how to say, "Yes sir, Mr. Trump."

This isn't about justice. It's about Trump using the DOJ to settle scores & silence critics.
